Central Florida Development Corp.
The Central Florida Development Corp. was formed in 1985 by an energetic group of business leaders teaming up with county officials in response to a series of unfortunate events that led to double-digit unemployment in Polk County. Many people point to the formation of this public/private partnership as being the catalyst to turning around Polk County’s stagnant economic condition.

Since its inception, the CFDC has helped generate more than 19,000 jobs for Polk County citizens and more than $3.2 billion in capital investment. Fortune 500 companies like Ford Motor Company, McKesson Pharmaceuticals, Lockheed Martin, GEICO, Coca-Cola, Wal-Mart and Sherwin Williams have all located facilities in Polk County under the CFDC watch.

City of St. Petersburg Economic Development
The City of St. Petersburg Economic Development is dedicated to supporting business retention, recruitment and expansion to ensure St. Petersburg’s prominent position as a vital economic engine within the Tampa Bay market. The Department works to expand employment opportunities, increase the economic sustainability of its activity centers, support the development of a quality workforce, augment the collaboration between the public and private sectors for mutual benefit, and ensure a high quality of life for all residents. The Department provides financial incentives, supplies market data, supports financing and business counseling programs, engages in redevelopment projects, markets St. Petersburg to business and promotes partnerships with other organizations to achieve its stated goals.

Clearwater Chamber of Commerce
The Clearwater Chamber of Commerce is a business membership organization which represents more than 1,700 businesses in the Tampa Bay area, predominantly North Pinellas County. The programs and services of the Chamber range from tourism promotion, networking opportunities, government affairs and access to local and state officials. The Chamber works closely with government officials at all levels to help maintain and encourage a business friendly environment.

EDC of Sarasota County

Florida High Tech Corridor
Florida High Tech Corridor was established by the Legislature in 1996 to attract, retain and grow high tech industry and to help develop the workforce to support those industries in the 21-county service areas of the University of Central Florida (UCF) and the University of South Florida (USF). In January 2005, the Council welcomed the University of Florida (UF) as a full partner of this unique economic development initiative, merging the strengths of three world-class universities and bringing the number of Corridor counties to 23.
